Admission Process

Listed below is a step-by-step guide to the admission process at Westminster School.

Please call or e-mail our Director of Admission. At that time, information about your child will be gathered, and your child’s name will be added to the waiting list for the appropriate class. There is no minimum age requirement for a child to be placed on the waiting list.

  • In the year before your child enters Westminster School, arrange a parent tour to learn about our programs, ask questions, and activate your child’s name on the waiting list.
  • Bring student records (last report card and latest standardized test results, if available) when you come for your tour if you have a child applying for admission to first through eighth grades. The tour will last approximately one hour.
  • If you have a child entering 3-Day, call the Director of Admission to schedule your parent tour of the school.
  • If you have a child entering 5-Day or Kindergarten, call the Director of Admission to schedule your child’s visit.
  • If you have a child entering first grade, call the Director of Admission to schedule a first grade readiness screening for your child.
  • If you have a child entering second through eighth grade, call the Director of Admission to schedule a half day or full day classroom visit for your child.

Helpful Information

  • To maintain a place on the waiting list, parents will be required to reconfirm their interest with the Director of Admission annually.
  • In the year before the child enters Westminster, the parent(s) need to work with the Director of Admission to schedule a tour of the School. Completing this tour is a mandatory part of the admission process. Parents should then take steps to complete other grade specific admission requirements.
  • Admission is guided by available space, the meeting of admission requirements, the date of first contact, and if admission is in the best interest of the child.
  • Financial aid grants are based on demonstrated financial need, after an admission decision has been made.
Financial need is NOT a factor in admission.
  • Priority on the waiting list is given to children of faculty and staff, and siblings of current students.

Westminster School admits students of any race, color, religion, or national and ethnic origin. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, or national and ethnic origin in the administration of its educational policies, financial aid program, and athletic and other school-administered activities.
